Basic course in recreational mountain climbing in Orpierre/ South France

Orpierre is surrounded by awesome rocky mountains that offer tracks of all degrees of difficulty. These extremely safe climbing routes invite you to sample climbing and to train.
Safety fundamentals and basic climbing techniques, using ‘top rope’, will be shown at the beginning of the course. We will build on our knowledge of climbing techniques, and be introduced to climbing in the lead.
Course contents are partially variable and can be adjusted to the needs of participants.
After this course, you should be able to climb in secured climbing regions on your own.
Orpierre is located in a quiet valley with lavender fields and small farms, about an hour south of Gap in the Haute-Provence. The picturesque medieval village offers a number of wonderful climbing rocks in close proximity. We will camp on an idyllic campground, from where the climbing routes are accessible by foot.

Recreational mountain climbing for slightly advanced climbers in Orpierre/South of France

For information about Orpierre, see ‘basic course’.
At the beginning of this course, we will repeat basic knowledge of safety and climbing techniques in ‘top-rope’ and it will be introduced when climbing in the lead. Further techniques, such as installing the top-rope, taking it down, climbing down etc. are variable and demonstration will be determined by the needs of participants. The main focus of this course is on pre-climbing training and on improving climbing techniques.
